Range Rules

Firearm Safety Rules

  • Always treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
  • Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
  • Always keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  • Always keep your firearm unloaded until ready to use.
  • Always be sure of your target and what is beyond.

Range Safety Rules

  1. Anyone May Call a Cease Fire at Any Time.
  2. Firearms must be holstered, bagged or cased when transported to or from the firing line or when moved from one firing line to another. Any uncased firearm must be transported unloaded with action open and chamber flag inserted.
  3. DO NOT handle firearms when people are down range checking and setting targets etc. Lay UNLOADED firearms down with actions open. Do not touch or handle ANY firearm during a ceasefire. This includes picking up your firearm to pack up and leave. If you have walked down range during a ceasefire to change or examine your target, there is nothing more unnerving than looking up range to see someone handling their firearm.
  4. DO NOT travel down range until you have verified a cease fire has taken place and everyone on the line has complied with rule number 3.
  5. DO NOT start shooting again until everyone on the line is ready and a "Commence Fire!" or "The Range is Hot!" command has been given.
  6. Eye and ear protection is to be worn at all times on all ranges.
  7. No firearms that utilize center fire rifle cartridges are permitted on the pistol range.
  8. Anyone can, and is encouraged to report violations to the range staff.

Range Etiquette

When calling for a general cease fire, be courteous and mindful of other shooters. Allow your fellow shooters to take a moment and finish their current round of fire.

Only fire when you have verified the range is safe with your own two eyes. Commands are fine but they deserve verification in each instance.

Don't interfere with other shooters. Don't tap them on the shoulder as they are about to shoot. Don't interrupt anyone unless you see they are in some immediate danger.

Clean up when you are finished. Don't leave a trashy shooting station for the next shooter. Throw away any ammunition packages, old targets, and other trash that you have generated during your shooting session.

Don’t pick up brass that doesn’t belong to you. The owner of it may want to collect it. Sweep your unwanted brass aside so people do not have to walk on it.

Retrieve your target stands when you have finished shooting and place them inside the firing line under the shelter roof.

Please limit course of fire to your own lane.

If lasers become a distraction to other shooters you will be asked to stop using them.

Be courteous and polite to your fellow shooters.

Explosive targets, Incendiaries and Tracers
Use of these ordnances is on a case by case permission basis only!

Tannerite and similar targets are NOT permitted.

ALL exploding type reactive targets are illegal according to state law. For this reason they are prohibited at the range entirely.

Please be aware that dry conditions may prohibit the use of incendiaries and tracers at any time the staff deems necessary. Certain events may also cause these munitions to be prohibited. Staff discretion will ALWAYS apply so ask before you act. Call ahead if necessary.

Steel Core and/or Armor Penetrating Ammunition

Nothing made of metal, wood, brick, block or stone at this range is a target regarding this ammunition. We do not prohibit its use but we do not want you making holes in or destroying range property with it either.

Violations

Violating the Firearm Safety Rules will result in immediate dismissal from the property and/or permanent ban from the premises. It may also result in immediate legal action.

Violating the Range Safety rules will result in immediate dismissal from the property and/or permanent ban from the premises. It may also result in immediate legal action.

Violating Range Etiquette will result in a single warning followed by immediate dismissal from the property and/or permanent ban from the premises for secondary violations.

Violation of the Explosive Targets policy can be felony of the fith degree. Violation of the Incendiaries and Tracer policy is impossible because you will always seek permission first. In the event you circumvent the permission rule, fail to warn your fellow shooters or damage property with these kinds of ammunition, the use of them will be banned indefinitely for EVERYONE! We want you to have fun and be able to use these ammunitions but be aware that we are one of the very few public ranges in Ohio that still allow the use of these items. Don’t be the one responsible for discontinuing their use.

Violation of the Steel Core and/or Armor Penetrating policy will result in a warning followed by immediate dismissal from the property and/or permanent ban from the premises for secondary violations. Anyone found to have been intentionally damaging property will immediately be dismissed and permanently banned from the premises without warning the moment such damage is discovered or reported. It may also result in an outright prohibition of this type of ammunition for EVERYONE indefinitely. Excessive damage to the range or its fixtures will leave us no choice but to prohibit this type of ammunition. Don’t be the one responsible for discontinuing its use.
